Photoautotrophic microbes from boreal peatlands

Peatland drying is a potential consequence of the ongoing climate change. The impacts of drying on photoautotrophic microbes and photosynthesis are poorly understood. Utilizing a 20-year-long field experiment, we quantified the effects of long-term water level drawdown (WLD) on e.g., photoautotrophic microbial community composition. The community structure of photoautotrophic microbes was investigated using metabarcoding. The community structure was later connected with photosynthesis measurements.
