资源简介:
Usual register format, having columns for progressive number, papers, when registered, from whom, residence, date, nature of application and representation, referred to whom and when, and result of application. The entries in these columns contain some unusual features. In the "Papers" column, which is designated for recording the registration number of the last paper on the same subject, a number is entered which may possibly represent the number of papers registered under the latest number. Previous registration numbers are entered beneath this number. The "Residence" column records the residence only in the case of letters from individuals. In the case of government offices it shows the sender's out-letter number. The "Result of Application" column often shows details rather than a reference to the reply, eg. "The C.S.B. are of opinion that Mr A. is eligible for appt as a Probr". The last volume of this series (6/60) also contains the beginning of the Public Service Board Register of letters received, commencing from 20 January 1896. The first volume (6/53) (which is labelled 1885) shows a gap between registration numbers 85/2 and 85/21 inclusive, ie. no letters were registered between 6 and 11 January inclusive. The remaining volumes are numbered from 2 to 8 and appear to be complete. (6/53-60). 8 vols.
