资源简介:
This dataset contains long time-series measurements from multiple LISST sensors (Sequoia Scientific, Inc.) collected during an ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) field trial conducted by Planetary Technologies in collaboration with Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This dataset was collected under a Joint Learning Opportunity (JLO) funded by Carbon to Sea and COVE. The sensors were deployed to provide direct, in-situ measurements of particles and particle properties (e.g., size, concentration) to (1) address open questions related to alkaline feedstock fate (e.g., accumulation, dissolution, aggregation) and environmental impacts from alkalinity dosing (e.g., secondary precipitation) and (2) support the refinement and validation of models used to predict alkaline feedstock transport and dissolution kinetics. Three different LISST sensors (LISST-Tau, LISST-OST, and LISST-200X) were mounted to a mooring for different durations throughout the OAE field trial from September 2024 to March 2025. The mooring was located near the powerplant outflow at Tufts Cove in the mixing zone where alkalinity was being dosed. The sensors measured beam attenuation, diffuse attenuance, particle size distribution, mean particle diameter, and other variables. Additional information about the sensor deployment, measurement parameters, data format, and processing can be found in the included supplemental document.
