Microbial diversity and community structure of a severely polluted river in an urbanized region of Northeast Brazil. freshwater metagenome

The structure and composition of the microbial communities in a highly contaminated tropical river in Northeast Brazil are analysed. Rivers are essential ecosystems due to their function in biogeochemical cycles and as a resource for a variety of human uses. The influence of environmental pollution on this ecosystem and its microbial biodiversity is studied at six sampling points, analyzing both water and sediment samples.
