Federal Parliament Election 1976 (Panel: 1st Wave, October 1973)

Attitude to economic as well as political questions. Judgement on
parties and politicians in view of the next Federal Parliament
election.

Topics: 1. judgement on political problems and on the ability to solve
them: importance of political problems; issue competence of the
parties; most important political events of the past and parties and
politicians associated with them; trust in selected governmental and
democratic institutions and information on changes in trust in these
institutions.

2. political interest and evaluation of parties: personal agreement
with parties and politicians; assessment of perceived agreement between
selected politicians and their parties on a scale; image of the parties
in the form of the social groups primarily represented by these
parties; preferred CDU candidate for chancellor; party preference
(ballot procedure for first vote and second vote); behavior at the
polls in the Federal Parliament election 1972; party identification;
assessment of the importance of elections (scale); political interest.

3. judgement on the economic situation: judgement on the economic
situation of the FRG as well as its development; judgement on personal
economic situation; economic expectations for the future; expected
price development and personal income development; expected development
of personal standard of living; amount of regular savings; installment
purchases.

4. Miscellaneous: job satisfaction and occupational prospects;
characterization of current social environment and housing conditions
as well as characterization of them when a youth of 15 years;
assessment of the significance of religious education in one´s parental
home; membership in a trade union and intensity of participation in
union activities.
