Literature review strategies
-------------------
* Search strategy: We performed a systematic search on databases (Web of ScienceTM Core Collection and ScopusTM) in April 2021 to identify appropriate literature following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) model (Fig. 1; Moher et al. 2009). Literature searches were conducted using the following search strings: ("fish" OR "fishes" OR "teleost*") AND ("swim*" OR "movement*" OR "activit*" OR "locomoti*") AND ("turbid*" OR "transparen*" OR "suspended sediment*" OR "browni*"). The systematic search was performed in the ‘topic’ field on the Web of Science. In Scopus, the search was restricted to the document type ‘Article’ and to the subject area ‘Agricultural and Biological Sciences’ on ‘Title, Abstract and keywords’.

* File contend: The " data_sharing_Rodrigues_et_al_2023-RFBF.xlsx" file has four sheet tabs, named: "Records screened"; "Full-texts assessed", "Database", and "Meta-analysis". Details (variables, abbreviations, missing data codes, and units) for the Metadata presented in each tab are presented below.
Details for Metadata in tab "Records screened"
---------------------------------------
* Description: a comma-delimited file containing the data from 3,268 studies (after duplicates removal), from which the titles and abstracts were screened and evaluated if they were in or out of scope of the meta-analysis
* Dimensions: 3269 rows x 6 columns
* Variables:
* database: inform the specific database in which the study (in each row) was found.
* author: inform the authorship of each study (in each row).
* title: inform the title of each study.
* electronic-resource-num: inform the DOI of each study
* abstract: specify the abstract of each study
* decision: inform if the study was considered as "out of scope" of our meta-analysis or seemed to be "in of scope" (named as "ok").
* Blank cells: data not used
Details for Metadata in the tab "Full-texts assessed"
---------------------------------------
* Description: a comma-delimited file containing the data 100 studies considered "in of scope", that were read in full.
* Dimensions: 103 rows x 6 columns
* Variables:
* Variables:

Details for Metadata in tab "Meta-analysis"
---------------------------------------
* Description: a comma-delimited file containing the data from 22 retrieved studies by our search strategy. These data were used to test if any moderators could explain the high variability in the effect size of turbidity on fish mobility.
* Dimensions: 44 rows x 11 columns
* Variables:
* Study ID: unique identification code for 22 retrieved studies.
* Control: temporal beta diversity index, using the Jaccard dissimilarity index, (TBI, Legendre 2019;
* NT: inform the sample size of the treatment group (i.e. turbid water).

* Fish species: The studied fish species.
* yi: A measure of change in outcome (i.e. the effect size for each study)
* vi: Within-study variance due to sampling error
* Blank cells: data not used
