Study of Human gut microbiota in amoebiasis (pathogen: E. histolytica). Human gut microbiota

Amoebiasis, caused by E. histolytica, is one of the main parasitic diseases of developing and under-developed nations. This study examines how microbial diversity and composition of gut microbiota is affected on E. histolytica infection. The study involves obtaining microbiome from feacal samples of amoebiasis patients as well as healthy controls. To examine the composition of the microbial community, both V1-V3 and V3-V5 regions of 16s rRNA gene was amplified and sequenced using Miseq. In addition, shotgun metagenome sequencing of limited number of samples was also conducted.
