Traffic volumes on main roads in Hamburg

The data set contains the traffic volumes on main roads (HVS) and federal motorways (BAB).

Traffic volume map 2019:

For 2019, the traffic volumes are given as an average daily traffic volume (DTV, Monday to Sunday). In addition, the attributes show the percentage of heavy goods traffic (HV) in the average daily traffic on working days (DTVw, Monday to Friday).

The figures for traffic volumes come from the transport model of the city of Hamburg. The transport model is based, among other things, on traffic censuses carried out up to 2019. The traffic volumes (cars) maintained in the traffic model as DTVw were converted to the DTV by means of flat-rate factors, then manually adjusted and smoothed if necessary. By contrast, the information on heavy goods traffic held in the traffic model as an SV share of the DTVw was not converted to the DTV, but transferred to the DTV without adjustment.

The information in the traffic volume map is not suitable for traffic forecasts.

Traffic volume map 2014:

For the years 2013 and 2014, the traffic volumes are given as the average daily traffic volume on working days (DTVw, Monday to Friday).

The figures for traffic volumes come from traffic censuses carried out on federal motorways and major roads up to 2014. The counting results were extrapolated to the average working day traffic (DTVw) of 2014. Due to extensive site influences in 2014, the DTVw values for 2013 were used for the federal motorways. Within the coloured sections of the route, the volume of traffic may fluctuate within the specified bandwidth.

The information in the traffic volume map is not suitable for traffic forecasts.
