The genome of A. tumefaciens LBA4213 was sequenced. This strain is a derivative of strain Ach5, which belongs to the biotype I class of tumour-inducing agrobacteria. LBA4213 is the immediate precursor of LBA4404, which is used as the genomic host for the binary vector system employed in the genetic engineering of plants.
