NRS-807 | Accounts of the Treasurer to the Corporation

(4/397, 9/2707). 2 vols. Records of receipts and disbursements of the Treasurer to the Corporation, on behalf of the Trustees. Disbursements are mainly sums paid out to meet the clergymen's or Corporation drafts, and are charged to the Clergy and School Account or the Improvement and Building Account, as appropriate. Receipts are principally in the form of subsidies from the Colonial Government, but also include rents of Corporation lands, and pew-rents. Of the two volumes, the first is a note book kept by William Balcombe, covering the period 1 January 1828 to 18 March 1829. The second volume is a composite of the accounts of the several acting Treasurers after Balcombe, namely Chas Cowper, Wm. Dumaresq and C.D. Riddell. The three periods corresponding to the tenure of office of each of these gentlemen are: 18 March 1829-1 April 1829 (Cowper); 2 April 1829-25 August 1830 (Dumaresq); and, 26 August 1830-31 December 1833 (Riddell).
