The objective of this research is to analyse and evaluate the general health of the Archives System of the State Administration in the 21st century. Starting from the bibliography and legislation immediately prior to that date, key points are selected to measure the current state of the system. The methodology used consists of the revision of the legislation, bibliography, and the technical data of archives in different censuses of the last 20 years, as well as the carrying out of an interview of our own design with the archivists. The results are shown in 10 sections or key points detected in the analysis. Finally, the conclusions analyse the aspects that have improved, which remain stagnant and which have worsened
