Field hockey participation England 2007-2016

This statistic shows the results of a survey on the number of people who play field hockey at least once a month at any intensity for any duration in England between 2007 and 2016. The survey was conducted via telephone interviews and the latest update on it was conducted for the time period between October 2015 and September 2016 with a total of 163,108 respondents. The data collected resulted in the conclusion that as of September 2016, approximately 142,600 adults in England play hockey on a monthly basis. Hockey participation peaked between 2011 and 2012 with 168,000 players and has fluctuated since. This makes a decrease of about 15 percent over four years. When compared to the share of children participating in hockey in England, it shows that the trend in hockey participation among adolescents between 11 and 15 years old shows a similar development.
