Tn-seq data from "Defining the core essential genome of Pseudomonas aeruginosa"

Transposon insertion sequencing (Tn-seq) is a genetic tool that has been utilized here to determine essential genes of a bacterial pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition to lab media (LB and M9 minimal) we have used infection-relevant media (serum, sputum, urine) to determine essential genes of 9 strains of P. aeruginosa on each of these media. This data allows for determining the core essential genome of the species on all media tested, as well as conditionally essential genes. Knowledge of such essential genes in paramount in the discovery of new antibiotic drugs.
