资源简介:
s research project is centered on a systematic analysis of endangered species, employing data provided by The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The IUCN periodically evaluates species and publishes their conservation status in the Red List. Our analysis aims to address several key questions: What is the current number of species listed as endangered? How has this number changed over time? What geographical, natural, or national factors contribute to a higher incidence of endangered species? Furthermore, we seek to determine whether these factors can also predict future trends in the number of endangered species. By examining these questions, this project aims to deepen our understanding of the dynamics affecting endangered species and contribute to their conservation efforts.
Research Questions:
How many species are currently listed as endangered?
How many animals are endangered in certain continents/areas/countries?
How many animals are endangered for a certain class (taxonomic rank; e.g., Mammalia)?
What are the main threats for certain classes?
How has this changed over time?
How has the number of endangered and critical endangered animals changed over time?
Which geographical and natural characteristics predict higher numbers of endangered species?
How has endangerment developed across climate zones?
What climate zone characteristics predict higher numbers of endangered species?
Can these characteristics predict trends in the number of species?
