Antimicrobial resistance is a serious global threat with the World Health Organization identifying a post-antibiotic era in which common infections and minor injuries can kill far from being an apocalyptic fantasy, is instead a very real possibility for the 21st Century. Our group is interested in the feasibility, reproducibility and cost-effectiveness of infrastructure-light identification of antibiotic resistance genes using ONT.
