资源简介:

The catalog for northeastern British Columbia, Canada, comprises all seismic events between 2014 and 2024, and serves as the foundational dataset for the analysis presented in Wang et al., Foreshock Productivity and Rupture Nucleation in Injection-Induced Earthquakes in Western Canada. It includes location, origin time, magnitude, depth, and associated uncertainty information. The catalog integrates standard network detections with enhanced detections from an EQTransformer-based workflow, providing high completeness down to M ≈ 0.7–1.0 depending on subregion (Northern Montney Play, Southern Montney Play). All events are referenced relative to a unified coordinate system, and the catalog has been quality-controlled for hypocenter consistency, magnitude calibration. The catalog for western Alberta was extracted from the Alberta Geological Survey/Alberta Energy Regulator (AGS/AER) Alberta Earthquakes open dataset (https://geology-ags-aer.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/ags-aer::alberta-earthquakes/about), which reports earthquakes located within Alberta from mid-September 2006 to 2025. For this study, we retained western Alberta events within the spatial and temporal scope of the analysis and reformatted the extracted subset to match the northeastern British Columbia catalog structure. The western Alberta subset includes event origin time, hypocentral location, magnitude, and depth. Because this subset is derived from the public AGS/AER catalog rather than from the EQTransformer-enhanced workflow used for northeastern British Columbia, regional differences in detection threshold, catalog completeness, and magnitude calibration should be considered when comparing the two areas. Detailed source information for the Alberta catalog is available from the AGS/AER Alberta Earthquakes data portal, detail information can also be found in the website. These two catalog are intended for studies of induced seismicity, foreshock-mainshock sequences, and fault-loading processes. Users are encouraged to consult the accompanying metadata and supplementary materials (Text S1 in Wang et al., 2026, under evaluation) for detailed information on the catalog construction workflow.
