Images and Text from Excavation of Park Farm Way, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, June to December 2020

This collection consists of images and text from an excavation by MOLA Northampton, of Park Farm Way, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, from June to December 2020. The site comprised a Late Iron Age to early Roman rural settlement, with livestock probably forming its primary function. All the enclosures were refurbished in the early Roman period and continued in use to the end of the 1st century AD, when the site was abandoned. At the far east of the site a group of undated linear boundaries were uncovered, which are probably part of the extended rectilinear Iron Age or Roman field system. The site does not show any reoccupation until the land became adapted to the medieval field strip system, with furrows broadly evident across the development area.
