Examination of Factors Determining Fault in Multi-Vehicle Crashes Using the SHRP 2 Data

Project Description This dataset was created in support of one of the winners in the "Student Paper Competition: SHRP 2 Safety Data Bonanza" sponsored by the SHRP 2 Safety Data Program and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee for Use and Oversight of SHRP 2 Safety Data, Phase 1. The data was used to determine what driver-related factors increased the risk for crash-involvement and which types of circumstances increased the likelihood of a driver being at-fault. The dataset included both crash and near-crash events over the duration of the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS). Data Request Scope All crash and near-crash events identified by the time the study was conducted were selected, for a total of 4,246 events.
