Ricinus communis Genome sequencing and assembly. Ricinus communis

The 400 Mbp genome of castor bean has been sequenced to 4x coverage using whole genome shotgun (WGS) sequencing. WGS project has the project accession AASG02000000. The project is supplemented with 40,000 ESTs from different tissues. Approximately 900,000 paired-end reads were generated using small (3-6 kbp), medium (9-12 Kbp), and large (30-40 kbp) insert libraries. Sequences were assembled using the Celera Assembler.
