资源简介:
Site 41MV145 is located approximately six miles east of the Rio-Grande near the
western edge of Maverick County in south Texas. The Archaic site was originally recorded as a
light surface scatter of burned rock and lithic debris. Subsequent subsurface reconnaissance
was conducted, revealing cultural materials to a maximum depth of 70 cmbs, with the densest
artifact concentration in the upper 30 cm. The artifact assemblage included a Clearfork biface
and a Nueces biface, as well as lithic debitage, cores, utilized flakes, burned rock and mussel
shell. Four soil samples from units 2 and 3 were examined for pollen and phytoliths. Pollen
and phytolith analyses are used to provide information concerning plant resources available to
the prehistoric occupants of site 41MV145.
