Disaster losses

The Risk Data Hub collects, disaggregates, and harmonizes historical disaster loss data from multiple sources to create a curated European dataset. Emphasis is placed on data standardization and alignment with open data frameworks, such as the Risk Data Library Standard (RDLS), to ensure a consistent description of hazards, assets, and metrics. Loss information is organized by time and location, with unique event identifiers established at both national and European levels. The Disaster Losses and Damages Dashboard allows users to explore the evolution of population and economic losses in Europe since 1980, while the event explorer provides a detailed view of the areas impacted for each single event. All processed data are openly accessible via the Risk Data Hub API, promoting transparency and broader use of disaster loss information.
