TEST 14M - RCK02 : Part 1 - 9m radius centrifuge experiment on clayey levee behavior under ground motions

Test 14M and the following test 15M are Part 1 and Part 2 of a unique experiment which was cataloged as RCK02 in the records of the centrifuge facility @ UC Davis. These second investigation RCK02 has very similar setup to the previous investigation RCK01, and the main differences are related to improve the design of the test. Again, test 14M employs the large scale (9m radius) centrifuge, and models a prototype scale 5 m height levee on top of 6 m of peat. The levee is made of modeling clay, and the container was spun to 57 g, then several ground motions were applied in order to investigate the seismic performance of the structure. Due to the possibility of failure in the peat from the increased stressed at higher g levels, the model was spun slowly to increased the g field. In the following Part 2 (Test 15M) the clayey levee will be substituted with a sandy levee.
