Public Perception of the SPACE Concept in Prague In April 2024, a quantitative survey was conducted among 400 Prague residents to assess their perception of SPACE – the Smart Prague Centre, envisioned as a vibrant, multifunctional venue blending innovation, culture, and technology within the revitalized Holešovice Market area. The concept combines interactive exhibitions, collaborative spaces, testing zones for urban innovations, and creative learning environments. Overall Reception and Emotional ResponseThe SPACE concept evokes strong positive emotions in the public. Nearly three-quarters of respondents reported positive feelings, especially younger individuals under 30 (45% felt a strong emotional connection). Key associations included inspiration, revitalization of the local area, and excitement about a diverse mix of activities. Interest and Engagement Potential43% of respondents stated they would definitely like to visit SPACE, with an additional 45% expressing potential interest. The highest interest came from young people, university-educated individuals, and women. Most Attractive FeaturesResidents were most drawn to the following features: A café in an inspiring setting (65%) Cultural programs using new technologies (59%) Interactive exhibitions explaining city functions (57%) Digital art installations (52%) Open workshops for hands-on learning (50%) Engagement with urban innovation also scored highly: 49% were interested in participating in innovation testing 47% were interested in exploring urban innovation trends via VR 44% were drawn to workshops and expert discussions Functionality RatingsThe concept was assessed through four core functions: Demonstration and Testing of Innovations – 78% positive emotion Multimedia and Exhibition Space – 76% positive emotion Community Meeting Space – 72% positive emotion Innovation Lab – 66% positive emotion Demonstrations, exhibitions, and communal interaction emerged as the most emotionally engaging functions.
