Hudson Bay Marine System 16S rRNA sequences

The Arctic is a rapidly changing and has seen a dramatic decline in sea ice mass over the past two decades. The Hudson Bay Marine System, located in northern Canada, is already seasonally ice-free and continues to experience sea-ice loss and warming temperatures. The impacts of rapidly changing conditions on microbial communities in this region are not well studied. Given the importance of microbial food webs to sustaining diverse ecosystems, we used high throughput 16S rRNA sequencing to examine how microbial community structure is affected by both salinity and temperature during the open-water summer season in Hudson Bay Marine System.
