资源简介:

This thesis discusses the idea of lost hope in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. At the beginning of the novel, the animals believe that rebellion will bring freedom, equality and a better life. Their dream is simple and sincere. They want to live without hunger, cruelty and humiliation. The study aims to show how this hope appears in the novel and how it slowly disappears. The analysis focuses on the animals’ early dream, their life after the rebellion, Boxer’s loyalty, the meaning of the windmill and the final disappointment on the farm. The thesis shows that Orwell presents lost hope as one of the most painful results of corrupted power.
