Which layer should I use? (choose from the list below) This dataset is available in four layers: BFE, BFC, BGC and BSC. Select the layer that best suits your intended use. For example, if you are carrying out analytical work, we recommend using the full‑resolution BFC or BFE layers. However, if you are creating a map or visualisation, use the generalised BGC or BSC layers instead. Layer Description BFE Full Extent (BFE) – Full resolution boundaries go to the Extent of the Realm (Low Water Mark) and are the most detailed of the boundaries BFC Full Clipped (BFC) – Full resolution boundaries that are clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water Mark) BGC Generalised Clipped (BGC) - Generalised to 20m and clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water Mark) BSC Super Generalised Clipped (BSC) – Generalised to 200m and clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water Mark) Layer Description: Lower layer Super Output Area boundaries are a polygon representation of LSOAs. They were created and designed to improve the reporting of small area statistics. Change Log: 20/05/2026: Initial Release
