Demonstration dataset for the testing of the CSIRO Soil Spectral Selection System

This dataset contains approximately 100 paired soil laboratory measurements and spectral observations collected under the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water’s National Soil Carbon Innovation Challenge – Development and Demonstration Round 2. Samples were obtained from a property near Yass, New South Wales.
The collection is comprised of two components:

1. Template CSV file – includes spatial coordinates, soil depth information, and laboratory analysis results for 100 soil samples. All laboratory measurements were conducted in alignment with carbon farming protocols defined in the 2021 Supplement to the Soil Carbon Method (see: https://www.dcceew.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/supplement-carbon-credits-estimation-soil-2021.pdf).

2. ZIP archive of spectral files – contains 100 .scan files representing tabulated Vis–NIR spectral reflectance data captured from soil cores under field conditions.

This dataset is intended as an example project dataset for testing and exploring the CSIRO Soil Spectral Selection System (C4S) available at https://soils.csiro.au/demo/C4SUI/. It provides a practical resource for querying CSIRO soil spectral libraries and investigating legacy soil information.
