This paper introduces a newly developed, unnamed dataset created by the Institute for Information Transmission Problems (IITP RAS), which targets the problem of illuminant estimation from a single image. The development of this dataset entails analysis of existing color targets, as well as technical and scientific challenges encountered throughout the data collection procedure. This dataset is designated for the 2nd International Illuminant Estimation Challenge, which commenced on July 1, 2020, and seeks to advance the development of scene illuminant estimation technologies via competitive events. Data collection was conducted under uncontrolled natural conditions, with a focus on ensuring illumination consistency between the color targets and the observed scenes, as well as avoiding illumination errors in the acquired images.
