资源简介:
Objective: To analyze the clinical profile, diagnostic investigations, and management strategies of 150 patients diagnosed with corneal ulcers.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted at DVVPFs Medical College & Hospital. The study included 150 patients with corneal ulcers who were evaluated for demographic details, clinical presentations, microbiological investigations, and treatment outcomes.
Results: The predominant causative organisms were bacteria (58%), followed by fungi (25%), and viral infections (10%). Contact lens wear (34%) and trauma (29%) were the leading risk factors. The management approach was primarily medical, with 70% of cases responding to topical antibiotics, antifungals, or antivirals, while 30% required surgical intervention, including debridement or keratoplasty.
Conclusion: Corneal ulcers present a significant challenge in ophthalmology, necessitating timely diagnosis and tailored management strategies. This study underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes.
