This dataset covers global terrorist attacks that occurred between 1970 and 2017. The raw data of incidents from 1970 to 1997 was collected by the Global Intelligence and Detective Services (PGIS), a private security agency. In 2005, after START digitized these manuscripts, GTD collaborated with the Center for Terrorism Intelligence Studies (CETIS) to continue collecting post-1997 data and expanded the scope of information recorded for each attack incident. CETIS collected data from January 1998 to March 2008 within the GTD, and subsequent data collection was carried out by the Institute for the Study of Violent Groups (ISVG). ISVG was the primary collector of terrorist attack data from April 2008 to October 2011.
