The experiment tests the hypothesis that talc particles affect the trasncriptome of phagocytosing cells. Macrophages were plated and exposed to 10 µg/well of particles (talc (T) or titanium dioxide (Ti)) and 2 µg/mL of 17-β estradiol (E) or vehicle. After 24 hours of particle and estrogen treatment, the RNA was extracted through a RNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen).
