Historical biogeography and plastome evolution of Commelinaceae Mirb.

We aim to 1) explore the plastome structural evolution through analyses of sequence variation, gene content, and gene order; 2) identify latent phylogenetically informative genes through nucleotide diversity analysis; 3) define phylogenetic relationships within this family solely based on plastomes; and 4) investigate the historical biogeography of Commelinaceae by reconstructing a dated phylogeny calibrated with fossils and estimate ancestral area reconstructions for continents.
