Bacterial 16S rRNA hypervariable region sequencing Raw sequence reads

We assessed the influence of different African Catfish stocking densities in RAS on the water microbiome composition. We also investigated pathogenic bacteria inside the rearing environment. A molecular approach (Illumina Miseq sequencing) targeting the V4 16s rRNA hypervariable region was used to construct a library of amplicon sequence variants (ASV), allowing microbial identification and abundance and diversity assessment. Our results reveal differences in the microbiomes from tank inflow water, tank outflow water, and sedimentation tank water among all systems (intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive). We discuss the influence of stocking density and oxygen levels on the microbiome composition.
