Data for: Biological Flora of Britain and Ireland: Silene uniflora

These data result from an investigation of the germination biology of seeds of Silene uniflora (Sea Campion) in response to temperature and salinity. They are summarised in Figure 7 and interpreted in section 8.4 of the account of Silene uniflora in the series Biological Flora of Britain and Ireland, published in the Journal of Ecology. Methods The data comprise the results of a series of tests carried out on filter paper in five replicate Petri dishes (sealed with Parafilm), with 20 seeds per replicate dish. Dishes were kept in incubators with illumination from warm-white fluorescent tubes for 12h/day and monitored for up to 47 days. The germination tests examined responses to a range of constant temperatures (5, 10, 15 and 20 °C) and salinities (0, 50, 100 and 200 mM NaCl). These are raw data and have not been processed. They are presented as an Excel spreadsheet.
