Penetration rate of online grocery shopping in the Netherlands 2015-2021

Self-isolation during the coronavirus outbreak in the Netherlands led to a sudden increase in online grocery shopping. In October 2019, 18 percent of respondents participating in a biannual survey said to sometimes do grocery shopping online. This percentage came about after a gradual increase over the past few years. In the next survey, which occurred right in the middle of when government measures were in place, the penetration suddenly increased by six percentage points.
