资源简介:
This study described the systematic development of the SWITCH (Supporting Wellness in Children Through Home-based Change) intervention, a culturally adapted and theory-driven program designed to improve fruit and vegetable (FV) consumption among elementary schoolchildren in Myanmar. Recognizing that children in Myanmar consume far below the WHO-recommended 400 g/day and that parents play a dominant role in shaping early dietary habits, the intervention focuses on empowering parents as the primary agents of change. The SWITCH intervention was developed using the GUIDED framework and informed by Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). Evidence was gathered from international literature, national dietary reports, and a baseline assessment in a Yangon school. Key barriers included low parental FV knowledge, limited confidence in preparing vegetables, low home FV availability, and high sugary drink intake. Based on these determinants, SWITCH was designed as an eight-week program combining weekly in-person parent sessions, home-based challenges, child engagement activities, and digital reinforcement through Viber and Facebook. Each weekly module targeted SCT constructs such as behavioral capability, self-efficacy, self-regulation, environmental restructuring, and observational learning. Materials—including recipe cards, cooking videos, FV shopping guides, and lunchbox templates—were culturally adapted using common Myanmar foods and cooking practices. Pre-testing with ten parents showed high acceptability, usefulness, and cultural clarity, leading to refinements such as simplified language, low-cost substitutions, and more Myanmar food examples.Overall, SWITCH is a feasible, culturally grounded, and theory-based nutrition intervention aimed at improving children’s fruit and vegetable intake by strengthening parental knowledge, skills, and home food environments. Its strong acceptability and systematic development provide a solid foundation for a forthcoming quasi-experimental evaluation.
