This study shows that short-read WGS, with tailored downstream analyses, contain enough information to detect complex genome rearrangements. We characterize several C. elegans genetic balancers: sC4, eT1, and sDp3. Additionally, we report several additional complex rearrangements in the strains BC4586, BC986 and VC109, never reported before.
