资源简介:
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Act, 1967, provided for the payment of compensation, from public funds, to victims of violent crime under two separate schemes, the Statutory Scheme and the Ex-Gratia Scheme. The Ex-Gratia Scheme provided compensation where the assailant had not been identified; the offender died before being brought to trial; the offender was a child under 16 years; or for a person injured rendering assistance to the Police. These files contain the initial application to the Attorney General by the victim; copies of Police statements concerning the injury sustained by the victim; documentation supporting claims for compensation (eg. medical certificates); medical expenses incurred and salary lost through illness; reports on the character of the victim; submission on the case prepared by the Under Secretary for the Attorney General's decision; Treasury approval of payment; copies of court papers where the offender is under 16 years; and the Deed of Release signed by the victim. (12/5183-93). 11 boxes. Note: This description is extracted from Concise Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales, 3rd Edition 2000.
