The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) has identified approximately 960 acres of land for a Class III (intensive) cultural resource survey for Section 110 inventory purposes. The land was withdrawn for the Salt River Project (SRP) and is located along Queen Creek west of Superior, Arizona. The withdrawn land was primarily within the Tonto National Forest (TNF), but included private land as well.
At the request of Reclamation, Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. (ACS) conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the project area to provide an inventory and assessment of cultural resources that might occur within the parcel. The survey, conducted on TNF land under noncollection permit TON572 issued by the TNF, was performed between July 28 and October 17, 2008. In total, 51 sites and 111 isolated occurrences were identified.
