The price elasticity of demand coefficient is a key indicator measuring the sensitivity of a commodity’s demand quantity to changes in its own price. By analyzing the sensitivity of the market demand for eggs to price fluctuations—specifically the price elasticity of demand coefficient—this study guides upstream and downstream enterprises in the supply chain to implement precise pricing, formulate tailored operational decisions, and conduct full-link management. (1) It enables upstream and downstream supply chain enterprises to appropriately adjust commodity inventories, effectively reduce inventory costs, and improve capital turnover efficiency. (2) Upstream enterprises can leverage this coefficient to carry out market-aligned price adjustments, consolidate their existing market share, and enhance product competitiveness. (3) It assists enterprises in developing differentiated promotion strategies for commodities with varying elasticities. For instance, for commodities with high elasticity, large-scale price cut promotions can be used to boost sales volume and revenue; for commodities with low elasticity, methods such as attaching additional gifts can be adopted to increase consumption. This provides robust data support for upstream and downstream supply chain enterprises to formulate personalized marketing strategies. 1. Data is collected internally within the enterprise, followed by data cleaning to remove outliers and eliminate duplicate records, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the dataset. 2. Establish the |Ed| price elasticity of demand coefficient model: |Ed| = |[(Q2 - Q1)/((Q1 + Q2)/2)] / [(P2 - P1)/((P1 + P2)/2)]|. Here, |Ed| is the price elasticity of demand coefficient (absolute value, rounded to two decimal places); P1 is the average delivery price last month (yuan/jin); P2 is the average delivery price this month (yuan/jin); Q1 is the delivery quantity last month (jin); Q2 is the delivery quantity this month (jin).
