OceanX-ITB-BRIN Exploration of Deep-Sea Water and Sediment off the coast of Northwest Sumatra, Indonesia

Full-length raw 16S rRNA gene sequences from deep-sea water column and sediment samples off northwest Sumatra, Indonesia. Water column samples were collected from Station 13 at three depths (2 m, 605 m, 1,269 m) representing vertical stratification. Sediment samples were obtained from three bathymetrically distinct stations: Station 13 (1,269 m) and Station 14 (2,860 m) in the Mergui Basin (bathyal zone), and Station 18 (4,528 m) in the Sunda Trench (hadal zone). All samples were sequenced using Oxford Nanopore PromethION platform with 27F-1492R primers to characterize prokaryotic diversity and bioprospecting potential in Indonesian bathypelagic and benthic ecosystems.
