We present the genome of this polyembryonic endoparasitoid, M. cingulum, examining gene families with expansion and contraction related to its parasitoid lifestyle. Combining a set of transcriptome data from different stages of the wasp, we reveal potential mechanisms of polyembryony and caste differentiation. Based on previous research, we now have new perspectives on parasitoids’ strategies of immune evasion. A new agent, microRNA, may plays an important role in this process.
