Dataset for: Integrating a mobile fitness application into college physical education (PONE-D-25-66825)

This repository contains the de-identified underlying data for the manuscript “Integrating a mobile fitness application into college physical education: A quasi-experimental study among Chinese university students” (PLOS ONE; manuscript ID: PONE-D-25-66825). The study evaluated an app-supported extracurricular training model (Campus Sports World) compared with conventional college PE instruction using a quasi-experimental design with two intact classes. The deposit includes two datasets and an accompanying codebook: S1_Data_English.csv: Physical fitness test data collected at pre-test and post-test, including recorded performance and standardized test scores for endurance (800/1000 m), standing long jump, sit-and-reach, and 50 m sprint, as well as group assignment (Treatment vs. Control). S2_Data_English.csv: Post-intervention exercise motivation questionnaire data collected in the Treatment group. Item responses are provided in their original Likert text categories and in numeric form (1–5) for analysis. S1_S2_Codebook_English.xlsx: Variable definitions, units, coding rules, and notes to support replication of analyses reported in the manuscript. All files are provided in English to facilitate reuse and verification. The datasets have been anonymized and contain no direct personal identifiers.
