White-tailed deer are one of the most abundant and widely distributed large mammal species in the Americas. They have adapted to a variety of landscapes and generally exhibit exceptional potential for recruitment. All Odocoileus species possess equivalent karyotypes (2n = 70), including the Mule deer and the endangered Florida Key deer, thus the current study will enable genomics research in many species of Odocoileus.
