Coastline dataset of Hainan Island during 1987–2017

Six kinds of coastlines interpretation markers and extraction rules were established based on the Landsat TM//OLI data of 40 scenes that covering Hainan Island for 8 periods during 1987 -2017, and the field investigation data was including. The distribution and type information of coastlines are obtained by visual interpretation by the method of digital vectorization, ENVI5.2 and ArcGIS10.1 software，then after careful modification and verification, the coastline distribution and type data sets are obtained. The data sets can be used to analysis the temporal and spatial variation of the coastlines, study the characteristics of coastline utilization and the evolution of land and sea pattern, clearly reflect the characteristics of the coastal environmental changes of Hainan Island.
