Objective evaluation of image quality in planning CT and its impact on radiosurgery: Therapeutic Impact

This dataset results from the objective assessment of image quality of a SOMATOM go.Sim CT scanner at the ABC Medical Center, Observatorio Campus, Mexico City, Mexico. The therapeutic impact was evaluated in the contouring task through 3 metrics: the Dice Index, the gamma index and the DVH. A comparison of two PTVs was performed. PTV contours were generated in the patient's CT reconstructed with the standard reconstruction kernel (reference), in the CT reconstructed with a proposed kernel (K) and in the patient's RMI. The dataset contains the resulting distributions of the Dice and Gamma indices obtained of the comparison between the contours made on the CT (whether the reference kernel or the proposed kernel) and the contours made on the RMI, for each PTV in a .mat format. Dose Volume Histograms (DVH) The corresponding DVH for every PTV contoured in every CT and RMI is saved in a .m format. DVHPTV1ref.mat, for example, corresponds to the DVH data for the PTV1 contoured on the CT reconstructed with the standard kernel. Additional files follow the same convention for the other PTV and the proposed kernel. All the DVHs for each PTV are saved in .png files named DVHsPTV1.png and DVHsPTV2.png. A margin of normal tissue was also assessed for this study. The corresponding DVH is saved in a .mat format. DVHShellPTV1ref.mat, for example, corresponds to the DVH data for the margin volume, called shell, of the PTV1 contoured on the CT reconstructed with the standard kernel. Additional files follow the same convention for the other PTV and the proposed kernel. All the DVHs for each Shell are saved in .png files named DVHsShellsPTV1.png and DVHsShellsPTV2.png. Dice Index distributions DiceKRMI1.mat corresponds to the Dice Index distributions between the contours made on the CT reconstructed with the proposed kernel and the contours made on the RMI for PTV1. Additional files follow the same convention for the other PTV and the reference kernel. Gamma Index distributions gPTV1KRMI.mat corresponds to the Gamma Index distributions between the contours made on the CT reconstructed with the proposed kernel and the contours made on the RMI for PTV1. Additional files follow the same convention for the other PTV and the reference kernel.
