Supplementary material for "Hepatitis B surface antigen positivity and hepatitis B virus exposure in patients with transfusion-dependent thalassaemia: a scoping review of country-level evidence, blood safety policy and universal immunisation"

Supplementary material for a scoping review of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positivity and other markers of hepatitis B virus (HBV) exposure in patients with transfusion-dependent thalassaemia across 22 countries, 18 of them within the 46-country thalassaemia belt. The material is deposited here and cited from the article by DOI. The deposit contains: File S1, the completed PRISMA-ScR checklist; File S2, the full search strategy for every database searched on 4 August 2026, a PubMed sensitivity search and its recall against the included studies; Table S1, definitions of all charted variables with assumptions and simplifications; Table S2, the full country evidence table, of which Table 1 of the article is a condensed version; Table S3, numerators, denominators and exact Clopper-Pearson 95% confidence intervals for every thalassaemia-specific HBsAg estimate; Table S4, the value-level source audit listing every charted value corrected, added or flagged; Table S5, the factors reported in association with HBsAg positivity; and Figure S1, the year universal infant immunisation and national nucleic acid testing of blood donations were introduced. Version 3 follows the first round of peer review: the title matches the revised article, the risk-factor table (Table 2 of the submitted article) is now Table S5, and the vaccination schedules (formerly Figure S1) are now Figure 4 of the article, so the former Figure S2 is Figure S1. Machine-readable CSV versions of every table and of the analysis-ready datasets are included, along with the review's complete bibliography in BibTeX and CSL-JSON for direct import into a reference manager; these are bundled in supplementary-data.zip. All files are generated by the study's analysis pipeline, so the deposited data and the tables printed in the article are built from one source.
