Replication data for: 'Spanning the Institutional Abyss: The Intergovernmental Network and the Governance of Foreign Direct Investment''

In this paper, we provide both methodological and theoretical contributions to the existing literature examining the determinants of FDI. We focus on a concurrent paper, Alcacer and Ingram (2012), as the baseline for our improvement. We illustrate how matching can be used to alleviate the problems arising from unbalanced data. In addition, we show how different measures of democracy can lead to seemingly contradictory results, but that these results can then be interpreted jointly to form a more exhaustive theory about the effects of democracy on FDI. In this section, we will provide a brief summary of Alcacer and Ingram (2012) and conclude by outlining how this paper will provide extensions.
