There is an interaction between the vibrating machine used for conveying or screening and materials. Studying the interaction mechanism between the two helps improve the working efficiency of the vibrating machine and prolongs its service life. In this study, the coupling between vibrating machinery and materials is simulated by the discrete element method (DEM) and multi-body dynamics (MBD) coupling method. The correctness of the simulation method and model is verified by theoretical calculation. The total energy consumption (Tec) in a single period and the vibration reduction rate (Vrr) are used as the evaluation indexes of the vibrating machine response. The properties of particles are evaluated by the equivalent damping (Ed) and mass combination coefficient (Mcc). The coupling effect between the particles and the machine is analyzed by springs and particle energy consumption ratio. The effects of particle size, the ratio of the mass of the material to the machine, and the vibration parameters of the machine on the above six indicators were investigated. The results show that the interaction between the particles in the range of 6−21 mm particle size is not significant. The ratio of particle mass to machine mass greatly influences the interaction between them. When the mass ratio is 1:2, the amplitude of the machine is 34.59% lower than that of no-load. Vibration parameters also have a significant effect on the interaction between the two.
