Vitis vinifera ssp. sylvestris, the wild grape, is thought to be the ancestor of the cultivated grapevine, V. vinifera ssp. vinifera. This project aims to develop a genome reference for this important wild grape. It will lay the foundation for the study of grapevine evolution, domestication and improvement.
